Welcome to
The ARISE Ensemble
Welcome to ARISE Ensemble, where music preserves history, storytelling inspires hope, and every performance celebrates the enduring spirit of freedom.

Founded in 1988, African Americans Renewing Interest in Spirituals Ensemble (ARISE) is a nonprofit arts and education organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich legacy of African American spirituals. Through powerful choral performances, historical storytelling, and educational outreach, we connect audiences of all ages and backgrounds to one of America's most influential musical traditions. ARISE was established to educate communities about the significance of spirituals and continues to honor the generations whose faith, courage, and resilience gave birth to these timeless songs.

More than a choir, ARISE is a living bridge between history and the future. Our performances illuminate the journey from slavery and the Underground Railroad through the Civil Rights Movement and into today's ongoing pursuit of justice, unity, and understanding. Every concert is designed to educate, uplift, and inspire through the universal language of music.

Based in Wichita, Kansas, ARISE proudly serves communities across the state and beyond through concerts, school programs, cultural events, scholarships, and community partnerships. Whether performing in local schools, historic venues, or on international stages, we remain committed to our mission of creating unity through harmony while preserving an essential part of our nation's cultural heritage.
We invite you to explore our story, experience our music, support our mission, and join us as we continue to honor the past while inspiring future generations.

Arise and shine—for the light of hope, history, and harmony continues to shine through song.
